The China International Search and Rescue team has arrived in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu, in southern Qinghai. They're there to help the local authorities.

The China International Search and Rescue Team has landed at the local airport in YuShu prefecture.

The team was transported by two planes. The first aircraft took off from Nanyuan airport in Beijing earlier this afternoon.

CISAR captain Liu Xiangyang said, "We gathered very quickly this morning. Many of us have experienced rescue work when facing severe disaster. "

They're now preparing to enter the quake zone. The crew says it'll dedicate all efforts to searching for people trapped under debris, to save as many lives as they can.

The team consists of earthquake experts, 30 medical workers, 64 rescue workers and 9 sniffer dogs with 18 tons of medical and relief equipment worth more than 3 million Yuan.

The China International Search and Rescue team did remarkable work, in the aftermath of the deadly Wenchuan and Haiti earthquakes.

The China Earthquake Administration, the Red Cross Society of China, and authorities in the neighboring Gansu and Sichuan provinces, and Tibet Autonomous Region, have also dispatched rescuers to Yushu.

Tents, cotton-padded clothes and quilts are being rushed to the region from various parts of the country.
