YUSHU, Qinghai, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Rescuers continued to find survivors buried in the debris Monday even as the death toll climbed to 1,944 on the sixth day since a devastating earthquake hit northwest China's Qinghai Province, leaving another 216 still missing.

The 7.1-magnitude quake, which struck the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu Wednesday, has also left 12,315 injured, including 1,134 severely injured, a spokesman for the rescue headquarters told a press conference.

THREE FOUND ALIVE

Two Tibetan women and an small girl were pulled out alive from the rubble Monday, more than five days after the quake.

At about 11 a.m., the Sichuan Mining Rescue Team helped out 68-year-old Urgyan Tsomo and 4-year-old Tsering Belkyi, who had been buried for more than 123 hours.

Their family had managed to pass water and rice to the pair who were trapped under their collapsed house, protected by a bed.

Another survivor was an unidentified Tibetan woman, who was rescued 130 hours after the quake occurred.

POWER RESTORED

Power supplies in the quake zone were almost fully restored as of Monday, authorities said.

The power facilities in Yushu County had mostly been repaired, bringing supplies back to normal, Gu Junyuan, spokesman for State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC), said at a press conference.

The supply could meet the needs of medical stations, shelters and rescue work, Gu said.

Ninety-five percent of the repair work of Yushu County's main power grid had been completed, said Wang Huaiming, general manager of Qinghai Electric Power Corporation.

Ten teams of 600 technicians had been working day and night to recover power supplies after the quake devastated the prefecture's grid, Wang said.

COMMUNICATIONS RESUMED

All 45 villages in Yushu prefecture had contact with the outside world restored Monday after telecommunications resumed in the county seats last week, according to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

Either fixed-line or mobile phone links were available in 42 villages, while villagers had access to satellite communications in the remaining three villages, said Miao Wei, Vice Minister of MIIT.

A total of 234 satellite phones were serving the region, he said.

Up to 111 of the 185 mobile base stations in Yushu had been unavailable as a result of disruptions to equipment, power and fuel supplies, according to the MIIT.

STOVES, MOBILE SHOPS SENT TO QUAKE ZONE

China's Ministry of Commerce has sent 3,000 heating stoves and mobile shops to Yushu.

The stoves would arrive in Xining, provincial capital of Qinghai, on Tuesday before reaching Yushu, said the ministry.

The Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu sits 4,000 meters above sea level, where night-time temperatures can easily drop to below freezing.

The mobile shops would arrive in Xining on April 21 and then go to the quake zone after being loaded with relief supplies, said the ministry, which had also ordered prefabricated houses to serve as shops and ensure commodity supplies.
