跆拳道

　　2000年開始成為奧運會比賽項目。 韓國一直存在多種武術形式，但在20世紀初期跆拳道逐漸成為主要流派。1955年，一批韓國武術的領軍人物選擇跆拳道作為韓國的國術，努力推動其國際化發展。

　　1973年，韓國政府認可世界跆拳道聯合會(WTF)作為跆拳道運動的合法管理機構，同年舉行了首屆世界跆拳道錦標賽。

　　Olympic sport since 2000. Various Korean forms of martial arts have existed but in the early 20th century, taekwondo became the dominant form. In 1955 a group of Korean martial arts leaders chose taekwondo as the definitive Korean martial art in an attempt to promote its development internationally. In 1973, the Korean government recognised the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) as the legitimate governing body of the sport, and the first World Championships were held in that year.
