嘉興毗鄰上海，緊依蘇南，是浙江省接軌上海的前沿陣地。瀘杭高速公路，乍嘉蘇高速公路，正在建設的杭州灣大橋，規劃中的瀘杭第二高速公路，紹嘉高速公路及瀘杭城際軌道交通等，市嘉興成為浙江的重要交通樞紐，溝通蘇浙瀘，融入長江三角洲。離市區40公里的嘉興港為國家一類對外開放口岸，全年貨物吞吐量為1130.35萬噸。嘉興至上海虹橋機場，浦東國際機場、蕭山國際機場都只有1個多小時的車程，全市境內的高級和次高級路面鋪裝率居浙江省之冠。

Regional preferences infrastructure

Jiaxing is adjacent to shanghai and south part of Jiangu. Thus it is the frontier of catching up shanghai strategy. The shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway, Zhapu-Jiaxing Expressway, and the projects under construction namely, Hangzhou Bay Bridge, the second shanghai –Hangzhou Expressway under planning, shaoxing-Jiaxing Expressway and shanghai-Hangzhou railway transportation system will make Jiaxing an important transportation hinge of north Zhejiang. Our strategy is to connect with Jiangsu, Zhejiang and shanghai, join the Yangtze River Delta region. Jiaxing harbor is 40 kilometers away from the down town area and it is the 1st grade harbor open to the outside world with the yearly holding capacity of 11,303,500 tons. There is only one hour drive from Jiaxing to Hongqiao airport in shanghai. Pudong international airport, Xiaoshan international airport. The top and second level ranking road surface rate are ranking the 1st in the province.

　　嘉興是華東地區重要的能源基地。秦山核電一期，嘉興電廠一期已建成投産。秦山和點二期、三期一部分建成投産，嘉興電廠二期正在加緊建設，全部建成後總裝機容量超過600萬千瓦。嘉興供電安全可靠，以行程220千伏和110伏為主網，35千伏和10千伏為配網的輸配電結構。供水充裕，日供水能力160萬噸，可滿足生活、生産用水。供氣現有石油液化氣管道供應，2005年將提供管道天然氣。污水處理工程已建成並投入使用，具有0萬噸/日的設計規模，並預留管線通道，遠期可達55萬噸/日。嘉興郵電通訊達到同類城市的先進水準，可于180多個國家和地區直接通話，10兆到戶的寬頻光纜網覆蓋全市。可提供國際、國內直撥電話、傳真、行動電話、電報、租用線路、電報設備、因特網、電在商務等服務。

Jiaxing is an important energy resource base of east China. The 1st term project of Qinshan nucleus power plant and the 1st term of Jiaxing power plant have been put into use. Parts of the 2nd and 3rd term of Qinshan nucleus power plant have been completed; the second term of Jiaxing power plant is under construction. The total installation capacity after construction will be 6 million kilo watt. The power of Jiaxing is reliable which has formulated a main grid of 220 and 110-kilo volt, subsidiary power transfer grid structure of 35 and 10 kilovolt. The city has abundant water supply by providing 1.6 million tons a day for living and production. The gas is provided by petroleum gas pipeline and by the year 2005, it can provide natural gas. The sewage process engineering has been completed and put into use, which has the designed holding capacity of 300000 tons per day, and the reserved pipe will allow it to reach the capacity of 550000 tons per day in the long run. The communication and post service of Jiaxing is an advanced situation compared with the cities of same ranking which can provide with the telephone service to more than 180 countris and regions.
