GUANGZHOU, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Li Yanfeng claimed the women's discus throw title at the Guangzhou Asiad here on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old Li, winner of the event at 2009 World Cup in Croatia, threw her season best 66.18 meters in her second attempt to win the gold.
Defending champion Song Aimin of China took the silver in 64.04, while the bronze went to Indonesia's Krishna Poonia, who finished in 61.94.
"I performed my normal level," said Li. "China always have advantages in the event."
Zhang, 32, who finished fifth in the 2009 Berlin world championships, said:"I tried my best, but Li was still better than me. The Asian Games will be my last international competition and I will become a coach after the Games."
