BEIJING -- Vice President Xi Jinping on Monday called on experts, who are also members of the Communist Party of China (CPC), to maintain their prudent and innovative style in scientific research and contribute more to the country's development.

When meeting a group of CPC experts, Xi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, spoke highly of their outstanding contributions to China's revolution, construction and reform in the past decades.

The experts, who have been honored as outstanding CPC members at national or provincial level, will go on a one-week study tour to Jinggangshan in east China's Jiangxi Province, which is regarded as a cradle of the Chinese revolution.

Xi said he hoped the experts could carefully study a speech delivered by President Hu Jintao on July 1 at a grand gathering marking the CPC's 90th founding anniversary and contribute more to China's initiative to build itself into an innovative country.

He asked CPC committees and governments at all levels to better serve the country's experts, whom he called the nation's "priceless assets."

He urged officials to listen to experts' suggestions open-mindedly and care for their work and life so as to allow them to concentrate on their work that contributes to the nation and the people.
