HONG KONG:A medical researcher studying Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in Taiwan has been confirmed to contract SARS, said a Taiwan health official Wednesday.
The patient is a researcher at a general hospital in Taipei and has been transferred to a hospital equipped to handle SARS cases.
Taiwan had not reported new SARS case after June. It reported 37 people being killed directly by the respiratory disease and another 37 deaths related to SARS earlier this year.
