China s first SARS reagent put into clinical practice

China has started to apply a SARS testing reagent in clinical practice.
The testing reagent will help discover the SARS virus when certain symptoms appear in patients and allow medical staff to accurately identify the virus with greater speed.
Prior to the development of the reagent, diagnosis could only be made two weeks after patients become infected with the SARS virus.
The Center of Disease Control and Prevention says the first batch of five thousand testing reagents will be distributed in 31 provinces across the country. |
