Kunqu Opera is a gem in the vast world of Chinese opera. Such is its special charm, UNESCO designated it as a representative legacy of Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage. Kunqu Opera buffs living in Taiwan got a chance to indulge in their passion courtesy of the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe.
For this tour, the Shanghai Kunqu Opera sent out its strongest lineup to Taiwan, which included famous stars in the different age groups.
The Troupe's artists will present 22 classic ensembles from traditional operas during their ten-day tour in Taiwan.
Masters like Cai Zhengren and Ji Zhenhua will all be playing their most popular roles.
If that wasn't enough, young artists from Shanghai will also put on an experimental opera called "Regret for the Past", adapted from the work of the same name by the father of modern Chinese literature Lu Xun.
