Why is the Chinese Government Opposed to the US Congress Discussion and Support of a Plan United Nations?
   日期:2001-04-17 14:50        編輯: system        來源:

As a part of China, Taiwan is not qualified to join the United Nations. If the US Congress should discuss and support Taiwan's bid to join the United Nations, that represent a brutal trampling on the U.N. Charter and a serious violation of China's sovereignty. The Chinese Government and people are firmly opposed to any such move.

Recently, the US Government has repeatedly stated that it will abide by the three Sino-US joint communiques, continue to adhere to the "one China" policy, oppose proposals of "two Chinas" and "one China, one Taiwan," oppose "Taiwan independence" and oppose Taiwan's attempt to join the United Nations.

We hope that the US Government will be as good as its word and take practical measures in this regard and that it will no longer pass anti-China bills at the Congress under the pretext of "separation of powers" and create new troubles and obstacles for Sino-US relations.
