A total of 791 people were confirmed dead and 294 others were still missing in the devastating earthquake that shook northwest China's Qinghai Province Wednesday morning, the emergency rescue headquarters said Friday.
As of 8 a.m. Friday, the quake had left 11,486 people injured, including 1,176 serious cases, said Xia Xueping, spokesman with the emergency rescue headquarters in Qinghai Province.
The 7.1-magnitude quake shook the Yushu County in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu at 7:49 a.m. Wednesday.
