BEIJING -- A mainland chamber of commerce will have an opening ceremony for its Taipei branch on Wednesday, marking the establishment of the first Taiwanese office for a mainland trade association, a mainland official announced Wednesday.

The Taipei branch of the mainland's Chamber of Commerce for the Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products will open Wednesday afternoon, Yang Yi, spokesman for the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office, said at a press conference.
