HONG KONG -- Taiwan's share prices closed higher Monday with the weighted index up 7.68 points, or 0.1 percent, to close at 8,029.74, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

The local bourse fluctuated between 8,014.27 and 8,046.22 during the day's trading. Turnover totaled 70.95 billion new Taiwan dollars (2.4 billion U.S. dollars).
