HONG KONG -- Taiwan's share prices closed higher Wednesday with the weighted index up 0.8 point, or 0.01 percent, to close at 7,995.51, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

The local bourse opened at 8,018.9. Turnover totaled 81.23 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 2.74 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.
