HONG KONG -- Taiwan's share prices closed higher Wednesday with the weighted index up 17.59 points, or 0.22 percent, to close at 7,950.30, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

The local bourse traded between 7,982.39 and 7,936.86 points. Turnover totaled 94.49 billion new Taiwan dollars (3.19 billion U. S. dollars) during the trading session.
